This rule ensures that a part of your system is never forced to include tools or buttons it will never actually use.

Main systems should connect to general 'plugs' rather than being hard-wired to specific, permanent parts.

Parts should follow a general blueprint rather than the tiny, messy details of how another specific part is built.

Using these rules allows you to create modular pieces that can be easily rearranged, replaced, or upgraded.

A well-organized system is much cheaper and faster to update as the needs of the users change over time.
